One thing Austinites have in common? We love our food! And a visit to Austin isn’t complete until you’ve grabbed some grub at one of our many unique food trucks. Food trucks are a staple around town, serving up everything you’re craving. Our favorite way to enjoy them? Doing a progressive tour starting with appetizers and ending with dessert. Many even have brick and mortar locations if the heat sends you inside. With all the options, you may wonder how to choose where to start, so here are a few suggestions to get you started making your food truck bucket list.

The Original Kimchi Fries from Chi’lantro are an experience unto themselves. Chi’lantro tops fries with fantastic Korean BBQ, cheese, caramelized kimchi, onions, cilantro, sesame seeds, Sriracha, and their own “magic sauce” for a true taste experience.

For you main course, Kebabalicious offers a customizable menu with two sizes of kebabs, three levels of spice, and multiple kinds of fillings, all wrapped in pita bread for easy eating. Try the “Spoiled Brat” for a little of everything if you’re not too full from your appetizer.

Gourdough’s Big. Fat. Donuts. is the perfect place for dessert. Their donut creations run from the simple “Naughty & Nice,” a mix of sugar and cinnamon, to the extravagant “Fat Elvis,” featuring grilled bananas and bacon with peanut butter icing and honey.

Texas has a rich history, and Austin is at the heart of it. One of the most interesting places to visit is the Texas Capitol, which is just a quick drive when you stay with us at Austin RV Park North.

The Capitol is housed in the oldest state office building in Texas, the restored 1856-57 General Land Office building. The imposing, castle-like building stands three stories and is sure to impress architecture and history buffs alike. A restoration done in the 1990s returned the most significant portions of the building to their 1888-1915 appearance, including original or reproduction furniture. The most impressive part of the building for many is the rotunda, which features the 218-foot-high interior dome and a terrazzo floor highlighting the six seals of the sovereign nations that governed Texas during its history.

A guided tour is a great way to see some of the Capitol’s highlighted. Additionally, multiple exhibits in the Visitors Center take you through the history of the building, its construction, and the state itself. Make sure to stop and view artifacts from the lives of the Texas Revolution soldiers who were paid in land for their service.

You can get more information on visiting the Capitol building on the Visitors Center’s website, here .

When the heat index soars, the water is the only place to be. And when you stay with Austin RV Park, you’re minutes away from one of the best water attractions in the area: Rock’N River Water Park. After a multi-million-dollar renovation, Rock’N River has expanded its offerings to make your visit spectacular.

The “Splashville” area of the park calls to kids and kids at heart who happily spend hours running through sprinklers in the yard. The play area boasts 51 water features, including water slides, tipping buckets and cones, jets, water guns, and obstacles. Older kids can take advantage of “The Quarry,” with its 12-foot Jumping Platform, Rock Climbing Wall, and Drop Slide. A game of water volleyball or basketball is an additional option for the competitors in your family!

Head over to “The Watering Hole” to enjoy food service in a covered, swim-up area or on land. You can take a break in the shade and watch your favorite sports on one of the many TVs in the area or relax with a book on one of the lounge chairs. For additional food options, check out “The Hitching Post” food truck circle. You can even rent a cabana, umbrella, or the park’s Picnic Pavillion for your own private space to relax and enjoy time with your family.

Rock’N River has so many features, you won’t get to them all in one day, so you may want to consider a season pass if you’re local or a frequent visitor to the area. You can get all the information on the park including hours, admission fees, and rules here .
